In the coming decades, humanity's exploration and utilization of space deepens. In 2040, the 'New Frontier' that utilizes spatial distortion technology disappears near Neptune. In 2047, the New Frontier suddenly sends a distress signal back from Neptune, prompting Dr. Will (played by Sam Neill), the designer of the New Frontier, to be tasked with boarding the rescue ship 'Lewis and Clark' to go to its aid. Captain Miller (played by Laurence Fishburne) is not very friendly, but fortunately, the Lewis and Clark quickly docks with the New Frontier as planned. Although life scans show that the New Frontier is full of life signs, the rescue team finds that all crew members are dead or missing after a search.
