Intro： The DecameronThe story unfolds in the fourteenth century, as the fearsome Black Death sweeps through Italy. The elderly Lorenzo, along with the wealthy Lavata from Florence, becomes a target. To avoid Lavata's lavish attention, Lorenzo escapes to a rural monastery to work as a gardener. At the monastery, Lorenzo meets the beautiful maiden Pompenia, whose father can’t repay his debts to Lavata and has promised her in marriage to settle them. Thus, she too is hiding in the countryside for seclusion. The disguise of a nun can’t conceal Pompenia's beauty, and the two inevitably fall in love. They meet eight young men and women who fled here to escape the plague; these inexperienced youths come together every day to share stories and entertain each other.
