This film is the first documentary filmed in animation.Israeli director Ali Forman witnessed the 1982 massacre of the Palestinian refugee camps in Sabala and Shatira, Beirut, Lebanon as an Israeli soldier.More than 20 years later, Foreman, who had lost his memory, tried to recall the truth about the massacre through conversations with his comrades, friends, psychologists and soldiers who had experienced the tragedy.As Forman's memory was gradually evoked, the tragic phenomena of the Lebanese War in 1982 emerged frame by frame.This film won the 2008 Caesar Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Los Angeles Film Association Best Animation Award and Best Documentary, and was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film, British Film and Television Association Best Non-English Film and Best Animation, and was included in the 2009 Cannes Palme d'Or.
