The story takes place in the distant 26th century, where a surgeon named Ido (played by Christoph Waltz) discovers a headless mechanical girl in a junkyard and takes her home, equipping her with a body originally intended for his deceased daughter and naming her Alita (played by Rosa Salazar). Upon awakening, Alita develops a keen interest in this colorful yet violent and cruel world.
