Intro: Roman Baths 2By chance traveling through the past and future, the East and West, Lucius Mudestus, a designer of Roman baths (played by Hiroshi Abe), incorporates the 'flat-faced' Japanese bathing culture into Roman bath designs, earning the love and admiration of Emperor Hadrian (played by Masachika Ichimura) and the people. Hadrian strives to establish a peaceful and harmonious empire, but the Senate incites the warlike sentiment of the people and stirs their bloodthirsty emotions through the bloody slaughters of the gladiatorial arenas. Worried Lucius is urgently appointed and returns to Japan multiple times to seek inspiration, designing healing baths for the injured and exhausted slave warriors, as well as for the imperial heir Ceonius (played by Kazuki Kitamura) who is on an expedition abroad. Thus, he reunites with the former magazine editor turned hot spring editor, Haruzumi Yamamoto (played by Aya Ueto). A furious storm is about to come, tying the fates of Lucius and Haruzumi tightly together... This film is adapted from the manga of the same name by artist Mari Yamazaki.
