Intro: Tracking the Long-tailed Leopard Cat MatthewDan (played by Alain Chabat) is a television news reporter who sets off alone to the Bolungbi tropical jungle to conduct an exclusive interview with the leader of the Baya tribe. Babidou (played by Jamel Debbouze), who lives in a small town near Bolungbi, is often referred to as a "liar" by the children he has adopted. In order to repay his debts to the orphans he has taken in and to prove that what he said is true—that the long-tailed leopard Matthew truly exists and has saved him—Babidou acts as Dan's jungle guide. They embark on an adventurous journey through the Bolungbi jungle, facing ups and downs as they confront the evil dual-natured botanist the old Professor Hemosong (played by Fred Testot). To maintain his youth, Hemosong needs to use the magical orchid plants brought by Matthew to create a rejuvenating potion, leading him to stop at nothing to steal Matthew's eggs. Together, Babidou and Dan work with General Bouchelo (played by Lambert Wilson), the commander of the local Bolungbi army, to successfully rescue Matthew's egg. With Matthew's help, Babidou proves to his children through a final live television broadcast that he is not a liar; Dan also proves to his father and the television station that he is a true news hero.
