In 2040, the spaceship "Event Horizon" utilizing space distortion technology disappears near Neptune. By 2047, Event Horizon suddenly sends a distress signal from Neptune, leading Dr. Weir (played by Sam Neill), who designed the ship, to be assigned to the rescue vessel "Lewis and Clark".
