He realized he had been played by the so-called 'Japan-China friendship' and had become estranged from the whole village. In a fit of rage, he teamed up with Sun Dalong to kill the Japanese squad leader, avenging Sun Er and restoring his reputation. The Japanese retaliated by directly slaughtering the villagers of Erlonghu. Brother Hao and his brothers engaged in a fierce fight to the death against the Japanese.
