The New York theater company is reviving "Swan Lake" because the former lead dancer Beth (played by Winona Ryder) has left. Director Thomas (played by Vincent Cassel) decides to hold auditions for a new lead dancer, who must perform both the black swan and white swan roles. Nina (played by Natalie Portman), who has practiced ballet since childhood under her mother's careful guidance, is exceptionally skilled. This time, she hopes to stand out. However, in the competition, she finds that the calculating Lily (played by Mila Kunis) is a strong rival. During the audition, her performance as the white swan is flawless, but her portrayal of the black swan is outperformed by Lily. She feels physically and mentally exhausted and discovers red spots on her back and injuries to her feet when she returns home. She approaches the director alone, hoping for a chance. The director seizes the opportunity to kiss her, but she firmly rejects him. In the end, he surprisingly chooses her. Her teammates suspect she used her looks to get ahead. At a party, Beth even vents publicly about her frustrations. This pressure, coupled with her injuries, continues to affect her performance. The director inspires her to unleash her passion and embody the allure of the black swan. Under intense psychological suggestion, she seems to slip into the role of the black swan...
