"The Biedermann Comet" is hurtling toward Earth, delivering a deadly blow to humanity. Authorities take urgent action, devising an optimal plan: astronaut Tanner (played by Robert Duvall) will pilot the spacecraft 'Messiah' to the comet, where a pre-prepared nuclear bomb will be placed and detonated to either break it into pieces or alter its trajectory. Tanner bravely completes the mission but finds that it does not yield the desired effect. The comet breaks into two parts, one large and one small, both closing in on Earth. Authorities swiftly implement the final action, initiating the 'Noah's Ark' plan to preserve certain Earth species, including humanity. This is a secret underground refuge where only a select few can escape the cataclysm and rebuild the world once the disaster passes. The smaller piece of the comet has already struck Earth, causing landslides and devastation, resembling an apocalyptic scene. The larger portion of the comet, following closely behind, will bring destruction to Earth far beyond what people can imagine, as humanity enters the countdown to its last moments.
