Mall security guard Paul (played by Kevin James) dreams of becoming a police officer, but his low blood sugar causes him to fail the exams at the New Jersey police academy once again. Disheartened, Paul returns home where his mother and daughter comfort him and urge him to find a partner. Paul begins his mundane daily work of directing customers or being teased by the kids in the mall. However, today, he is captivated by Amy (played by Jayma Mays) at the wig counter, and he hopes to impress her with his manly nature. Unfortunately, his large physique and somewhat weak constitution always undermine his self-esteem. On this day, a group of robbers takes over the mall, planning to rob the stores and the bank. Unaware of this, Paul hides in the arcade. When he finds himself face to face with the robbers unarmed, his only option is to flee. However, when he realizes that Amy has been taken hostage, he decides to return to the mall at all costs.
