In the near future, Western countries and China fall into a cold war, and the tense atmosphere among major powers promotes a competitive development of advanced weapons including artificial intelligence robots. Dr. Vincent McCarthy (played by Toby Stephens) switches from a private company to a research institution supported by the Department of Defense in order to cure his daughter's illness. He is dedicated to transforming soldiers who suffer fatal injuries on the battlefield into intelligent robots with strong combat capabilities, while secretly stealing money to treat his daughter. The beautiful Ava (played by Caity Lotz) passes through a series of tests to enter the institution and becomes Vincent's assistant. After some trials, they finally establish trust in each other. However, on one night returning home, they are attacked by spies from China. Vincent narrowly escapes, while the critically injured Ava is transformed into an intelligent robot. Amidst the clouds of suspicion in the institution, what will become of their fates...?
