Due to the kidnapping by the gangsters, a pair of twin brothers were separated right after birth. The younger brother, played by Jackie Chan, was rescued by a nightclub dancer and raised to live as a vagabond at the bottom of society. In a bid to help his friend impress women, he meets singer Barbara (played by Maggie Cheung) and consequently offends the mafia. Meanwhile, the older brother, Ma You (also played by Jackie Chan), is taken to the United States by a wealthy couple, receives a good education, and becomes a famous musician. During a concert back in Hong Kong, he meets Tang Xin (played by Anita Mui), the daughter of a prominent family. Due to a series of misunderstandings, the two brothers swap roles and enter each other’s lives, creating comical situations as people can’t tell who is Ma You and who is the younger brother. The feelings of Barbara and Tang Xin also begin to change. At the concert, the younger brother accidentally performs wildly, achieving unexpected success, while Ma You, under pressure from the mafia, drives to rescue his friend Tai Shan, who has been taken hostage. As a result, both brothers join forces to fight against their formidable enemies.
