Mai Daomei (played by Eric Tsang) lives up to his name, having experienced countless hardships throughout his life. His job at a lingerie factory causes the company's performance to plummet, his girlfriend leaves him, and his elder sister, who is over thirty, remains unmarried because of him. In desperation, his sister gifts him a family heirloom jade bracelet in hopes of changing his luck. Depressed, Mai Daomei drives under the influence and is hit, falling down a slope. Dazed, he encounters the ghostly figures of Yan Wang and the horse-faced and ox-headed messengers, who inform him that his life is not over yet, but after the deaths of Wang Baiwan, Bao Daili, and Shi Shen, it will be his turn to die. Upon waking up, Mai Daomei immediately meets the kidnapped millionaire Wang Baiwan, and learns that Shi Shen is one of the kidnappers, with Bao Daili being Shi Shen's girlfriend. To save himself, Mai Daomei attempts to protect Bao Daili and Shi Shen, thus getting involved in this kidnapping case, and Shi Shen's sister, Shi Nü (played by Cherie Chung), also piques Mai Daomei's interest. How will Mai Daomei save himself and win Shi Nü's heart?
