Elizabeth, who works for the health department (played by Brooke Adams), collects a small plant in the suburbs and explains to her husband Jeffrey that it is likely a newly discovered species. Meanwhile, Elizabeth's colleague Matthew (played by Donald Sutherland) is facing retaliation for his meticulous law enforcement. The next day, Elizabeth is surprised to find that Jeffrey is behaving strangely and is very stiff.
