 Synopsis
In the near future America, the national unemployment rate is just 1%, and the crime rate has reached an all-time low, with violence almost disappearing. The United States seems to have entered a blissful golden age similar to paradise, and the perfect facade is attributed to an unprecedented cleansing plan. To effectively release the repressed emotions and dissatisfaction of citizens, the government has mandated a nationwide twelve-hour cleansing night each year after 7 PM, during which people take to the streets to engage in fights and killings without legal repercussions. In this bizarre era, security system salesman James Sandin (voiced by Ethan Hawke) makes a fortune, living a life of luxury with his wife and children.
