Tim (played by Domhnall Gleeson) is 21 years old when his dad (played by Bill Nighy) tells him that the men in their family have the superpower of time travel, which allows them to go back in time. Tim skeptically tries it out and goes back to the summer, where he attempts to change his relationship with his crush, only to discover that no matter how much he travels through time, he cannot make someone who doesn't love him fall in love. After that, Tim moves to London and becomes a lawyer. He falls in love with a beautiful girl, Mary (played by Rachel McAdams), and through several time travels, he tries hard to be Mary’s boyfriend. Later on, he also attempts to use time travel to save a failed play, improve his sister's life, and better interact with his family and friends, making the most of every day of his life.
