In a store in Fujimino City that sells tropical fish, lives the Shamoto family of three. Miyako is especially cautious, afraid that she might cause trouble. One night, Mitsuko is detained by a supermarket for shoplifting, and the Shamoto couple rush to her aid. Luckily, a kind stranger, Yukio Murata, helps them out. Murata is also the owner of a tropical fish store, and he sincerely invites the Shamoto family to visit his shop and offers to hire Mitsuko. Although the Shamoto couple feels somewhat lost, they unwittingly let Murata lead them. Soon after, Murata invites Shinsuke to be his business partner, and to Shinsuke's shock, he witnesses Murata kill a man who questioned him. The usually submissive Shinsuke is forced to become an accomplice in Murata's desperate attempts to cover up the crime...
