American climatologist Jack (played by Dennis Quaid) believes that the greenhouse effect is causing a major disaster on Earth, with the melting of the Arctic glaciers threatening to return the planet to an ice age catastrophe. His warnings have not garnered attention from American authorities; it is already too late: hurricanes, hail, floods, melting icebergs, and extreme cold have led to a series of catastrophic transformations. The U.S. government has organized the relocation of people at 30 degrees north latitude to around the equator, resulting in chaos. Worse yet, Jack's son is trapped in a library in Manhattan, trying to keep warm by burning books. How can anyone escape this imminent disaster? When will the icy Earth warm up again?
