A massive asteroid was discovered heading towards Earth, set to collide within eighteen days. The United States Space Agency devised a plan to prevent this asteroid from impacting Earth and causing human extinction: to send people to land on the surface of the asteroid, drill a hole through to its core, and place a nuclear bomb for detonation. But all of this had to be accomplished within eighteen days. The drilling foreman (Bruce Willis) was given a heavy responsibility, and his subordinate (Ben Affleck) happens to be his daughter (Liv Tyler)'s boyfriend. The success of this mission is linked to his daughter’s happiness for the rest of her life. To this end, he and his subordinate underwent intense training from the Space Agency, hoping to transform overnight from drillers into heroic saviors.
