In post-war London, the aimless young married bisexual Johnny is sent to prison, and he has to entrust his beloved Alsatian dog, Ivi, to his traumatized parents and his older middle-class ex-lover and close friend Frank. After multiple visits to Johnny's parents' home, Frank develops a deep friendship with the mischievous dog, which reminds him of his friend trapped in prison.
