An Eighth Route Army soldier captured a strategic offensive map of the Japanese army, but due to severe injuries, he had to hand the map over to his farmer brother Er Zhu, entrusting him to take it to the train station to send it to their comrades. Meanwhile, Qin Gui (played by Huang Hong), who came from the Northeast, was assigned by the shopkeeper to retrieve the map at the train station. On the other hand, a cotton-picking farmer named Lao Yao (played by Wei Zongwan), who was determined to join the Eighth Route Army to resist Japan, and his young uncle Shun Zi (played by Zhao Liang) are searching for the Eighth Route Army unit. The uncle and nephew incidentally run into a storyteller skilled in mimicry (played by Xu Yukun) at the teahouse. At the train station, Qin Gui mistakenly identifies the storyteller as the contact person for the Eighth Route Army and clings to him insistently. After a brief reunion with Lao Yao and Shun Zi, the four are once again scattered by the Japanese army's artillery fire. Qin Gui, Lao Yao, and the storyteller become trapped in a cellar, while Shun Zi goes to bring villagers from the neighboring village to rescue them. Thus, a pursuit between ordinary people and the Japanese army officially begins...
