In 1982, a three-person Antarctic research team from Norway was traversing the ice fields when they unexpectedly discovered a strange ship that had been frozen for a million years, along with a mysterious creature encased in the ice nearby. The talented American paleontologist Kate Lloyd (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead) was invited by Dr. Sander Halvorson (played by Ulrich Thomsen) to join a group of researchers heading to Antarctica. After careful study, they realized they had encountered a life form never before seen on Earth. Just as the scientists were celebrating this great discovery with songs and dances, the mysterious creature quietly thawed and launched a brutal attack on humanity. After a fierce battle, the monster ultimately perished in a sea of flames.
