The industrialized world has brought unprecedented convenience to human life, yet at the same time pushed the world to the brink of destruction. People are too focused on improving their own living standards, neglecting the proper protection of the Earth that supports their survival. As carbon dioxide emissions continue to rise, global warming increasingly accelerates, and polar glaciers begin to melt. For a decade, scientists around the world have continuously warned that rising sea levels will eventually submerge humanity's homes, but the real threat is far from over. Three university students, Adem (played by Aaron Ashmore), Frederic (played by Kyle Schmid), and Chen Ling (played by Steph Song), arrive at Banks Island in northern Canada, ready to assist ecologist David Kupran (played by Val Kilmer) in local research. They discover the corpse of a polar bear left behind by Dr. Kupran at the research station, at which point the doctor and his team have been infected by a mysterious virus carried by the polar bear. As the glaciers melt, this deadly virus awakens from its eternal slumber...
