The well-imagined scientist Janos Rukh convinces another group of scientists and sponsors to embark on an expedition to Africa, aiming to find and study an ancient meteorite of extraordinary value. Janos is exposed to the meteorite's toxic radiation but is saved by an antidote invented by Dr. Benet. However, his contact with others can cause their immediate death. Upon returning to London, Dr. Benet uses the meteorite's controllable rays to restore vision to the blind. The toxicity of the antidote incites Professor Janos Rukh's paranoid rage, leading him to take revenge on the members of the expedition and accuse them of stealing his discovery for personal glory.
