Domain lord Naitō Masachika (played by Sasaki Kōzō) was planning to have a good rest, but unexpectedly, the shogunate's chief councilor Matsudaira Nobushige (played by Jinai Yoshinori) learned that the Tōgawaka clan had discovered gold mines, and thus he schemed to force Naitō to undertake another sankin kōtai within five days, or else face accusations of treason. Aware that this was a meticulously planned plot, Naitō still decided to take the risk. With the assistance of his clever chief councilor Sōma Kazutsugu (played by Nishimura Masahiko) and the Hōgakudō ninja Kumo (played by Ihara Gōji), Tōgawaka's desperate sankin kōtai officially commenced. Meanwhile, the cunning Matsudaira Nobushige continuously sent spies in an attempt to thwart Naitō and his entourage's journey. With many obstacles ahead, will the domain lord Naitō succeed in overturning Matsudaira's conspiracy?
