Stark Industries is the largest arms supplier for the U.S. military globally, and its new leader Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) is charming and intelligent. He works seamlessly with the company's veteran Obadiah Stane (played by Jeff Bridges) to elevate Stark Industries to new heights. In real life, Tony is passionate about collecting luxury sports cars and engaging in inventions, and of course, he has his share of fleeting romances. Fortunately, he has a capable assistant like Virginia 'Pepper' Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) to manage everything meticulously, allowing him to enjoy a carefree life as a wealthy playboy. While on his way to the Middle East to demonstrate new weapons for the military, Tony and his companions are attacked by terrorists. He is injured by shrapnel and almost dies, but with the help of Dr. Yinsen, a nuclear-powered artificial heart is implanted in him. The terrorists demand that Tony create powerful weapons, and he and Yinsen pretend to comply while secretly building a suit of armor powered by fusion energy. After donning the armor, Tony wreaks havoc at the terrorists' base, and upon returning to America, he further improves the suit. However, he is unaware that an even darker conspiracy awaits him...
