A mysterious woman (played by Wen Yongshan) visits Liang Xiaotang in prison; she belongs to a security bureau that operates at a higher level than the police. It turns out that Liang Xiaotang's imprisonment is part of an undercover operation. The day Su Xingbai was killed, there were other parties involved, and the deputy director of the security bureau (played by Mai Changqing) suspects the entire incident is related to a corrupt police gang hidden within the police force, thus leveraging Liang Xiaotang's imprisonment to launch an investigation. Liang Xiaotang proactively approaches the target inmate, former drug investigation department officer "Daqie" (played by Du Wenze). Just as he is about to make progress, he discovers that the professor is simultaneously using psychological treatment methods to drive "Daqie" into multiple episodes of mental breakdown, culminating in a death suggestion being made to "Daqie". A confrontation blurring the lines between allies and enemies, justice and evil, ensues with life and death stakes.
