Intro: Taxi judge CantoneseIn the early 1990s in Hong Kong, it was common for taxi drivers to refuse passengers and charge exorbitant prices. A broker from an insurance company, Ah Kin (played by Anthony Wong), was highly capable in his job, and his envious colleagues did not know that his motivation for working was his beautiful wife and their unborn child. The police officer Ah Chong (played by Yuen Kok) who was very efficient in handling cases, was a close friend of Ah Kin. The two often drank together during their free time to discuss happy and troubling matters. On a stormy night, when Ah Kin's wife was about to give birth, he hurriedly called for a taxi, but the driver ended up taking a higher-paying passenger while he was helping his wife downstairs. Another taxi driver saw the high price offered by Ah Kin and agreed to take them, but when he saw that Ah Kin's wife was bleeding heavily, he cold-bloodedly ordered them to get out of the car. Subsequently, Ah Kin's wife was killed when the taxi door trapped her skirt and the taxi sped away. Devastated, Ah Kin initially wanted to pick himself up with Ah Chong's encouragement but found it impossible as his career and life fell apart. Remembering the previous instances of being bullied by taxi drivers, he decided to become a taxi judge.
