The story takes place in the early period after the liberation of China. After hard struggles, the new China was finally established. However, in the remote mountain areas of our country's borders, there were still remnants of the Kuomintang and deeply rooted bandit gangs holding territory, committing crimes, and attempting to subvert our party's regime. Gehei Village, a gathering place of the Manli ethnic group in the southwest border region, was a typical example of severe bandit problems. In order to understand and eliminate the banditry, a certain reconnaissance company of the People's Liberation Army dispatched a reconnaissance platoon. Manglege and Guosha disguised themselves to approach the locals, but unexpectedly, they were attacked by bandits. At a critical moment, Manglege was saved by his son who had secretly followed him.
