Intro： We were once warriors.This film is based on the true battles of the Vietnam War. In November 1965, the Vietnam War escalated to the stage of direct American military involvement, with the number of U.S. troops in Vietnam continuously rising. Colonel Moore (played by Mel Gibson) is tasked with training a group of new recruits into real warriors, while many families accompany the troops, creating a dual role for the soldiers as both husbands and warriors, with an atmosphere of warmth mixed with unease. To alleviate the monotony of military life, the unit holds a large gala. When the time to deploy arrives, Moore solemnly promises at the ceremony to 'bring back every soldier.' Moore and his troops are air-dropped into the river valley near Cambodia, a stronghold for North Vietnamese forces; outnumbered, the American troops find themselves heavily surrounded and suffer heavy casualties, eventually reaching a stalemate with the support of artillery and helicopters. The next day, the fighting progresses to the hill but still cannot break the siege; Moore seeks air support, but due to the proximity of both sides, American napalm bombs injure some of their own ground troops. Photographer Joe (played by Barry Pepper) captures the brutal scenes of the battle. On the third day, as American forces prepare for a decisive close combat, air support arrives, and the North Vietnamese are completely wiped out.
