Intro： The Gallows of SpringThis drama tells the story of Du Kuerong, who, guided by communists and inspired by the existence of truth, goodness, and beauty in the world, ultimately returns to the right path through personal growth and redemption. Du Kuerong is essentially good-hearted but somewhat willful due to his grandmother's pampering, which leads to his wrongful imprisonment. While in prison, he meets the communist Mei Yongyuan, who helps him gradually recognize the goodness and righteousness within himself. Du Kuerong tries to escape from prison, hoping to uncover the truth behind his case and atone for his past arrogance. After escaping from the detention center, Du Kuerong witnesses the harm Van Sen does to his mother, which makes him suspect that his framing is related to Van Sen. While hiding in a rundown courtyard, he begins helping impoverished children and aids the underground party by printing progressive publications. After being discovered, he is locked up in a remote island prison. After a prison break, Du Kuerong fights back but is captured and sent to a re-education center, where he meets Mei Yongyuan again. After revealing his identity, Mei helps him escape from the center with a note. Du Kuerong is inspired by Mei Yongyuan's spirit of serving the people and undergoes a spiritual cleansing, transitioning from self-centeredness to selflessness. He ultimately completes the mission entrusted to him by Mei, discovers the truth about his case, punishes the evildoers, and upholds justice.
