The television animation market was completely dominated by "toy animations" and Japanese imports. After years of darkness, in 1995, Time Warner and Turner Entertainment Group summoned remnants of Hanna-Barbera to create Cartoon Network, now the largest animation channel in the world. Dexter's Laboratory was the first feature-length animated show created by Cartoon Network Studios. During its production, Cartoon Network cultivated a large number of talented animators, including the show's creator Genndy Tartakovsky and later the creator of The Powerpuff Girls, Craig McCracken. As a generation of animators who grew up alongside Dungeons & Dragons, Star Trek, Star Wars, and superhero comics, they not only possessed solid foundational skills from their Hanna-Barbera predecessors but also had a wilder way of thinking.
