In the morning, Franckie wakes up to find Anna missing; a dwarf dressed in ancient attire guides her onto a mysterious small boat to an enigmatic castle filled with sensuality. The girls, draped in thin veils, delight in each other. During Franckie's search for Anna, she encounters Morgana, the mistress of the mysterious castle, who traps the girls' souls with the temptation of eternal youth (a plot reminiscent of Faust). Thus, the girls become caged birds, living in an illusion, losing all courage to return to the real world. However, with cleverness and a love for real life, Franckie, assisted by the small dwarf, eventually escapes this void.
