Based on the Newbery Award-winning novel of the same name, written by Katherine Applegate and illustrated by Patricia Castelao. It focuses on a silverback gorilla named Ivan who lives in a cage at a large shopping mall with an elephant named Stella and a stray dog named Bob. Ivan has no memory of his former life, but when a baby elephant named Ruby arrives, Ivan takes on the responsibility of caring for her, and he begins to gradually remember his past experiences, devising a plan to escape the cage and prevent Stella from being abused by the caretaker.
