The film revolves around three boxers from different backgrounds. Aoyanagi Akira (played by Moriyama Mirai), after experiencing the peak of his career, becomes a marginalized and defeated boxer, often treated as a 'soft persimmon' to boost others' confidence. He becomes lost and even considers giving up boxing but, after hitting rock bottom, he experiences a revelation and ultimately returns to the ring to search for the meaning of life. Omura Ryuta (played by Kitamura Takumi) is a young boxer burdened with secrets. Abandoned by his parents as a child, he follows a rebellious path, but his broken life finds new vitality through boxing, unstoppable despite being a newcomer. Miyaki Shun (played by Katsuchi Ryo) is a comedic entertainer and the child of a star. Under questioning from his father, he struggles to find his identity. Participating in a boxing competition due to a television program's special project, he tries to truly prove himself and win through boxing, hiding behind a facade of jokes and laughter. "Defeated Dogs: Adversity" primarily focuses on the duel between Aoyanagi Akira and Miyaki Shun. Their lives, which seemed to have no intersection, converge because of a special project for a TV show. Both at a low point in their lives, they are determined to find a glimmer of hope and a breakthrough in adversity on the boxing stage. Miyaki Shun, who always lives behind the mask of a comedic entertainer, longs to find his place in the boxing ring, searching for the value of his existence through countless punches, standing up again and again, even if he falls, to continue fighting, ultimately earning applause and recognition from everyone. Meanwhile, Aoyanagi Akira, already facing coldness from those around him, seems to sink deeper into despair and confusion. Should he continue or give up? What is the true meaning of boxing?
