David (played by Jake Gyllenhaal), Miranda (played by Rebecca Ferguson), Rory (played by Ryan Reynolds), Sho (played by Hiroyuki Sanada), and Hugh (played by Ariyon Bakare) are astronauts working on the same spaceship. By chance, they discover an immature life form on Mars. Hugh brings this life form back to the lab, and to everyone's surprise, this tiny cell starts to grow rapidly under external stimulants. As the life form grows, the situation begins to spiral out of control; the life form displays powerful aggression and high intelligence, killing several crew members one by one. Moreover, David discovers that the life form seems to want to descend to Earth along with the spaceship, and if its plot succeeds, humanity on Earth will undoubtedly face catastrophic disaster.
