Zhu Jiaying (played by Cai Zhuoyan) goes disguised as a man to learn arts at the Xiaoyao Sect at the behest of her parents, encountering numerous dangers unbeknownst to her. Fortunately, she is rescued by Liang Zhongshan (played by Wu Zun) and the arriving Ma Cheng'en (played by Hu Ge). The perils of the Jianghu are an abstract concept to Jiaying, and after delivering her to the Xiaoyao Sect, Cheng'en heads to the capital to report back. During the time of practicing and playing at the Xiaoyao Sect, Jiaying and Zhongshan grow closer.
