A little boy joins a group of gem-based creatures in place of his mother and must learn to control his own power.The series is set in the fictional beach city, where a group of immortal alien warriors named "Crystal Gem" live in an ancient seaside temple, guarding the world from evil.They project female humanoids from the magical gems that form its core.Crystal gems include garnet, amethyst, pearls and Steven.Steven is a little boy with half human and half precious stones. His gems are inherited from his mother, the former leader of the gems, Rose Quartz.Steven tries to explore his powers, spending time with his human father, Greg, his friend Connie, others in Beach City or other gems every day, sometimes helping them save the world, sometimes just playing together.He explores the abilities his mother passed on to him, including fusion (the ability of the gems to merge each other’s identities and bodies to form a completely new and stronger personality).
