The boy Thomas (played by Dylan O'Brien) wakes up in an elevator, strangely remembering nothing except his name. When the elevator opens, he finds himself in a strange place known as the 'Glade.' It is surrounded by tall stone walls, and inside live many boys, including Newt (played by Thomas Sangster), Chuck (played by Blake Cooper), and Minho (played by Ki Hong Lee), who are all trapped in a maze, with a group of huge monsters threatening them from outside the walls. One day, the elevator brings them a girl named Teresa (played by Kaya Scodelario), the first girl to arrive in this place. After her arrival, the maze begins to change, and everything descends into chaos. Thomas and Teresa decide to embark on a journey to unravel the secrets behind the maze. The film is adapted from the first book of the dystopian science fiction trilogy written by James Dashner.
