Adapted from the unfinished work of the same name by Osamu Dazai, this manga was created as an original project. The story follows a popular playboy who is dating multiple women simultaneously, inspired by Dazai's novel 'GoodBye' which tells the tale of breaking up with his mistresses. 'GoodBye' is Dazai's posthumous work and remains incomplete. Previously, based on this unfinished Dazai work, manga artist Jun Katsu created a manga of the same name, depicting a modern 'scoundrel' story. In the adapted Japanese drama, the male lead, Taijima Mao (played by Takuya Ohno), is a highly popular playboy juggling various relationships, and now he wants to end this lifestyle. Taijima Mao encounters his senior from high school, Betsukawa Fumiyo (played by Saho Matsuda), and after hearing Taijima Mao's thoughts on breaking up with multiple lovers, Betsukawa suddenly remarks that his situation is similar to that in Dazai's novel 'GoodBye.' Upon learning this, Taijima Mao begins to reference and emulate the plot of 'GoodBye' to strategize his breakup plan, while Betsukawa becomes embroiled in this lively drama of love and resentment.
