The creator of the Kingdom of Perfume, Xu Chaoyang (played by Lian Kai), though already past forty, remains a hot commodity in the dating scene, being a successful career man and handsome gentleman. Xu Chaoyang's life resembles a luxury item visible only through a storefront window, enticing yet unattainable, until a leukemia test result shatters everything. Overnight, he learns he has only a year left to live, and his career is on the brink of collapse. To grasp the only lifeline left—bone marrow transplant—Xu Chaoyang and his rookie secretary (played by Ma Yuan) hit the road in a camper van, embarking on a long journey to find several ex-girlfriends, hoping to find a match. Just as the 'Journey to Find Blood Relatives' begins, the two encounter a rebellious runaway girl, Liu Tong (played by Xiong Naijin), who threatens them with a knife. Unable to shake her off, Xu Chaoyang ends up carrying this heavy burden as the trio heads south. Xu Chaoyang, known for his flirtatious nature and past bad-boy behaviors, faces scorn from every ex he visits: a powerful businesswoman turned competitive adversary sets a trap for him to embarrass himself in the media; a tough, no-nonsense police officer (played by Zhu Dan) mobilizes all the police cars in the city to capture them; and a glamorous Latin dance instructor (played by Liu Yun) leads them into a chase by a gang boss with no way back...
