Butler (played by Buster Keaton) is a wealthy young man born with a silver spoon in his mouth, living a pampered life since childhood, which has led to his spoiled and arrogant personality. Butler's father thinks this way of life is unacceptable, so he sends his son into the mountains, asking him to hunt and fish to toughen him up. However, Butler, who has never touched a bit of dirt, has no idea how to hunt or fish. Although he has been in the mountains for quite a while, he hasn't caught anything; instead, he encounters a girl from the mountains (played by Sally O'Neil). Butler is infatuated with this girl and pursues her fervently, but his pale and weak demeanor clearly does not impress her family, who strongly oppose their marriage.
