He sacrifices three years of his life to become a ghostly couple with Xiao Die, in order to help her escape her ghostly marriage. Wei Xiao Die returns to the human world to repay her kindness but is misunderstood by Ah Bo as a distressed mainland girl and is rescued once again. Ah Bo's girlfriend, Ah Mei (played by Wang Xiao Feng), grows weary of their impoverished life and frequently cheats, eventually leaving Ah Bo. Xiao Die appears to comfort him, filling the emotional void in Ah Bo's life. Jin Hua, who sees through Xiao Die's ghostly identity, tries to capture her using magic but is ultimately moved by Xiao Die's sincerity and instead helps her extend her time in the human world. After leaving Ah Bo, Ah Mei's life does not go well; when she asks to reconcile and is rejected by Ah Bo, she angrily commits suicide and transforms into a vengeful spirit seeking revenge...
