In the beautiful seaside town of Hengchun, a young man named A-Jia (played by Fan Yi-Chen), whose music dreams have been thwarted in Taipei, watches everything coldly. Although he became a substitute postman with the help of his father, a public representative, he piles the letters and packages haphazardly in his room, and he does not follow the instructions of the old postman, Maobo (played by Lin Zong-Ren), to return a parcel from Japan that cannot be delivered; instead, he opens it privately: inside, along with a yellowed photo of a girl, are several letters written 60 years ago. At that time, Japan had lost World War II, and a Japanese teacher (played by Nakao Koji) abandoned his girlfriend, who had agreed to elope with him, when he retreated with the Japanese army. On his way back to Japan, he turned his love and regret into words, but the letters were only sent by his daughter after his death. A Japanese girl named Yuko (played by Tanaka Chie), who came to study and work in Taiwan, hopes to become a model but is deemed too outdated for that role and can only work as a public relations officer for Nakao Koji's (Nakao Koji) performance in Hengchun. Typically, there would be a band warming up before Nakao Koji's performance, and although Yuko originally contacted a band from Japan, the public representative insisted on using a local band. Left with no choice, Yuko teamed up with several local music lovers with significant differences in age, work, and personality, including A-Jia—who lost his happy life due to an accident, a traffic cop (Minxiong), a store clerk named Shuiwa (Jiazixiaoying) who secretly admires the shop owner, and a precocious young girl named Dada (Maizi). As none of them, except for A-Jia, had stage performance experience, conflicts often arose within the makeshift band, infuriating Yuko, who was often annoyed by the most experienced A-Jia. The band members kept changing—Maobo and a seller of Hakka millet wine, Malasang (Ma Nianxian), successively replaced the bassist. As rehearsals went poorly and the day of Nakao Koji's performance drew closer, Yuko, completely disappointed in A-Jia, decided to give up her job in Taiwan and return to Japan, but the two had developed feelings through their friction. Soon, Yuko saw the letters from 60 years ago in A-Jia's room and was completely moved by the beautiful love story, urging A-Jia to deliver the letters to the concerned parties. Although neither of them confess their feelings out loud, the power of love is undoubtedly great; A-Jia regained the courage to pursue his musical dreams because of Yuko. Just as Nakao Koji's performance was about to begin, the address of the letter's recipient was found, and A-Jia was also informed by Yuko that she had received a job offer from a record company in Japan.
