Since their father's funeral, the three brothers have not been in contact for a year. The oldest, Francis (played by Owen Wilson), plans a meticulously organized trip to India and tells his brothers that it is to find themselves and rekindle their relationship. Although the second brother, Peter (played by Adrien Brody), who is trying to escape his miserable life, and the youngest, Jack (played by Jason Schwartzman), are not enthusiastic about the trip, they agree to Francis's plan. The three brothers embark on a hilarious journey across India aboard a luxury train, collecting strange souvenirs along the way. After flirting with a female train attendant, letting loose a cobra they bought as a souvenir, and getting into a brawl on the train, they are thrown off the train along with all their luggage by an exasperated conductor. Although everything spiraled out of Francis's control, this unexpected turn of events brings the three brothers closer to the true purpose of their trip... This film was nominated for the main competition section of the 64th Venice Film Festival.
