However, they were unexpectedly stopped by the palace master’s husband, Yan Nantian. After the palace master was defeated by Yan Nantian in a close call, the couple turned against each other, vowing that in 18 years, they would have their disciples eliminate the ten evils. To repay Yan Nantian's life-saving grace, the top ten evil-doers took on the responsibility of raising Yan's son, Xiao Yuer (played by Liu Dehua), intending to train him to become the most wicked person in the world. Meanwhile, the palace master adopted Hua Wuque (played by Lin Qingxia), teaching him martial arts while instilling the belief that all men should be killed.
