Since 1985, a large number of scientists flocked to the remote, pearl-rich Carterhuck Island to conduct various experimental studies. By 1988, a deadly influenza spread worldwide, and to save humanity, scientists gathered a group of volunteers to experiment with genetically modified vaccines on Carterhuck Island. They injected a parasite into humans to enhance their physical strength; although the trials showed initial promise, most participants in the trials died a tragic death. Mircea Monroe plays Jamie Ackman, one of the few survivors of this disaster. Twenty years later, to handle her family's legacy, Jamie returns to this island full of terrifying memories with her boyfriend and brother. Some hope she can find a way to kill the parasite, while at the same time, the latest mutated parasites are spreading rampantly, posing an even greater threat to the lives of the islanders...
