The movie "Half Drunk in the World" tells the story that takes place in a modern bar named "Half World." Through the protagonist Paul, who learns to mix drinks at the "Half World" bar and experiences various life stories through the customers who come and go, the audience is guided to concoct the most suitable cocktail of life for themselves among the sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy drinks. Paul's story reveals a tumultuous relationship with his alcoholic father, who has liver cancer. One day, after an argument about the future, the father suffers a stroke and dies. Paul begins to stand on his own. Initially, he harbors much resentment towards his father. That night, he begins to desire a deeper understanding of him. He tries to trace back to his father through the only clue, "alcohol." He walks into "Half World" to apply for a bartender position and begins to learn the craft. The story of the boss and Ah Quan, where the boss frequently visits the bar, gets drunk every day, and has Ah Quan carry him home. Ah Quan is the only unwilling customer at the bar, compelled to drink with the boss every night. Despite his deep respect for the boss, he never defies his wishes, yet the boss looks down on him and insults him. Ah Quan often accompanies the boss, neglecting his girlfriend Macy. One day, Macy can no longer bear waiting for him every night and breaks up with him while he is drunk. This causes Ah Quan to experience heartbreak; it's his first time drinking in defiance and quitting his job. Then there’s Candy, the boss's wife, who comes from a wealthy family and suffers from depression and panic disorder after the death of her mother. She develops a romantic relationship with her cousin, but her father discovers their affair and forbids them from seeing each other, leading her to fear her father intensely. In response to this tense atmosphere, her father compromises and allows her cousin to visit once a month. Eventually, Candy even refuses to see her cousin, drinking heavily instead. Her cousin later suggests they open a bar to turn her habit into a purpose. From then on, he visits the bar regularly to meet her. There's also Yuki, a girl who frequently visits the bar and catches Paul's eye, although she always comes with another boy, Tomas. Tomas appears rebellious, doesn't truly like Yuki, yet uses her to pass the time. After Yuki suffers heartbreak, she often seeks solace in Paul. To provoke Tomas, she kisses Paul deliberately while drunk. Stella, who has always liked Paul, witnesses this and is furious, deciding to quit her job. Lastly, there’s Leonardo, a stylish boy who meets his dream girl, Rosemary, a cute girl at the bar. They seem like a perfect match, to the point that their affected demeanor disgusts others. In the 21st century, a couple named Ai Fei and Ai Yi are regulars at the bar, with their relationship and breakups occurring right there, often involving playful provocations with others.
