A modern version of the Cinderella story. Sam (played by Hilary Duff) grows up with her father's fairy tales, only to find herself becoming Cinderella in a real-life fairy tale. After her father's death, she faces humiliation and mistreatment from her stepmother and stepsisters, making her life unbearable. She dreams of getting into Princeton University, hoping to escape this wretched little world. Sam confides her dreams and troubles to a close online friend, who becomes her emotional support and her prince charming. Halloween ends up shattering Gina's dreams. Her online friend turns out to be Austin (played by Chad Michael Murray), a renowned and handsome athlete at school. One is an ordinary, dull girl, the other is a shining and brilliant boy. Luckily, Gina is in disguise and is not recognized by Austin. The two are so mismatched that a flustered Gina hastily flees, accidentally leaving behind her cell phone. Just like in the story where the glass slipper is found by the prince, Austin searches for his Cinderella with the cell phone, while Gina can hardly believe that she could be as lucky as Cinderella. Thus, this love story is destined to be full of twists and heartwarming ups and downs.
